Abstract
Intensive development of radioelectronic facilities using new complex modulation types, including combined modulation, software-controlled modulation, radars with interperiod spread spectrum and stochastic signals, entails the necessity of new system tryout, testing and characteristic verification.
The majority of existing hardware-in-the-loop signal simula-tors are dedicated and operate in specific frequency range.
The introduced test facility consists of a digital transceiver, a frequency converter, a set of antennas for P, L, S, X bands, a controller and a solid-state data storage with fast interface. The complex provides wideband signal generation, registra-tion and analysis. The 3.2 Gbps data interface between the transceiver and the storage allows long test sessions with signal simulation and registration in bandwidths up to 600 MHz in continuous mode and up to 1 GHz in pulsed mode.
The experimental tryout complex can simulate operation of wide range of radio facilities using various modulation types of irradiated signals, the signals may be either existing station signals recorded beforehand or perspective signal digital simulations. Both kinds of signal patterns can be stored in signal pattern library, then played back and irradiated at carrier frequency, that is required for perspective radio in-telligence and communication stations tryout and tests. The signal pattern can be mixed with interfering signals and noises to simulate real electronic environment. The retrans-mission mode implemented in the complex allows to simulate echo signals of 4 moving points for pulse-doppler radar tests. The implementation of sounding signal retransmission per-forming real time convolution with previously simulated impulse responses is to provide using the experimental tryout complex as an active simulator of arbitrary radar sceneries and calibrated radar targets for SAR spatial and radiometric resolution verification.
