14b SAR ADC with ODC Background Calibration

Abstract
 The capacitor matrix makes a significant contribution to the SAR ADC conversion error realized by capacitor based DAC. The architecture of a fully differential CMOS SAR ADC with a digital pseudo-background calibration based on the ODC (Offset Double Conversation) method is proposed. After calibration, SNDR and THD were improved from 60.8, 65.0 dB to 70.7, 83.8, 96.7 dB, respectively. The convergence time is about 16,000 samples, with offset ±20 LSB. In this architecture, the offset adjustment is provided. The proposed architecture is easy to implement and provides high accuracy of conversion.
