Creation of CAD - systems’ ontology using Protege 4.2

Abstract
 The purpose of the present article is concerned with creation of ontology of CAD-systems with the help of Protégé 4.2. In operation, the main definitions of ontology were examined. The formal structure of ontology was analyzed and the main components of it, such as class, slot, facet and individuals, were also observed. According to this article, the method of creation of ontology begins with the definition of classes of ontology. The next step needs to indentify the class hierarchy (class-subclass). Then it is necessary to define connections between classes. Object and data properties are also have to be determinated. The final algorithm step refers to define individuals of each class of ontology. Using Protégé 4.2 allows visualizing the result of the process of creation CAD – systems ontology in this paper. Ontology-based model has a graph representation and allows further changing.
The great deal of data is semi-structured information. Often this fact complicates data processing operation. Such problem is also actual for CAD designers. This article shows an opportunity of using ontology-based modeling as a tool for solving problems of information redundancy. Developed model allows to pose data domain in a complex way, to classify a set of notions in a flexible manner and to determine a hierarchical arrangement. This process simplifies the work of CAD designers to some extent. Using ontologies is the upcoming trend in computer and engineering science. What is more the developed ontology intends the further modifications by people from all over the world as part of the cloud technologies. This leads to the substantial reduction of charge and elevation of
operational efficiency.
