Abstract
If we consider that the digital filter coefficients have a finite word length, it can be argued that it is not any point in the z-plane can be zero or a pole of the transfer function. All possible positions of the poles (zeros) form the topography of the z-plane. We say that z- plane sampled due to quantization of the coefficients of the digital filter. Topography sampled z- plane depends on the degree of algebraic numbers , which belongs to the subset of the set of possible poles (zeros), and the length of the fractional part of the coefficients of the canonical structure of the corresponding order . For most structures of digital filters coefficients are mutually independent. At the same time, the known structure, the coefficients are coupled by an equation, for example, coupled structure. The paper shows how the topography of the z-plane in the presence of the coefficients for equality constraints.
