Abstract
The problems of increasing analog-to-digital converter (ADC) accuracy at the expense of built-in self-tuning are presented. The calibration technique takes advantage of the digital redundancy architecture inherent to the pipelined ADCs. The structure and algorithm pipelined 1.5-bit/stage ADC are discussed. ADC digital calibration techniques fall into two
categories: foreground and background calibration. The serial and parallel methods of calibration are reviewed. The data on the effectiveness of pipelined ADC with calibration is displayed.
