Abstract
This paper presents the findings of research undertaken in a set of integrated circuits (IC) 1474ÕÕ2Ð and 1474ÕÕ3Ò used to control and protect power MOSFET or IGBT switches. IC 1474ÕÕ2Ð provides two-way optical link via external optrons with a control and protection IC 1474ÕÕ3Ò. The forward signal path in the IC 1474ÕÕ2Ð is equipped with a preset input, both inverting and non-inverting inputs based on Schmitt triggers, and an output onto the optron LED, while its return signal path features a feedback input and a fault output. IC 1474ÕÕ3Ò allows to control the power switch gate, protect it in case of failure and transmit the fault signal to IC 1474ÕÕ2Ð via the other optron.
