Abstract
 This article analyzes the most popular schemes and development trends of microwave frequency synthesizers. There are two methods of direct frequency synthesis were described. The photonic synthesis have been discussed also. The phase locked loop synthesizers were discribed in details. The development progression was reviewed as the creative process of combining already known methods that merge in unique way. The article evaluate modern trends in microwave frequency synthesis solutions that demand of low noise and rise the operating frequency. The synthesizer with low density location spurs in spectrum was suggested.
